Firefighters Complete Work on Brushfire Near Lake Elizabeth

LAKE ELIZABETH (CNS) - Firefighters have finished mopping up hot spots from a fire near Lake Elizabeth that burned nearly 300 acres and have cleared the scene, authorities said today.

Firefighters were released at 8:38 a.m. Sunday from the “Johnson Fire,'' which started as a vehicle fire, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Imy McBride.

The fire was reported at 3 p.m. Friday near Johnson Road and West Elizabeth Lake Road.

Initially, the flames spread from the vehicle to three acres of brush, but shortly after 6 p.m., the fire had scorched about 200 acres, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

No evacuations were ordered, as no structures were threatened, the department reported.

About 300 firefighters were dispatched to battle the blaze, along with multiple aircraft.

No injuries were reported.
