LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged today after dropping by one-tenth of a cent the previous two days and remaining unchanged the two days before that.
The average price of $3.187 is four-tenths of a cent more than a week ago and 6.8 cents higher than one month ago but 43.5 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has decreased 42.8 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price dropped one-tenth of a cent for the second consecutive day and is now $3.171. It is two-tenths of a cent more than a week ago and 7 cents higher than one month ago but 42.8 cents less than one year ago. It has decreased 37.4 cents since the start of the year.
“Prices have stabilized,'' Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager, told City News Service. “Wholesale gasoline prices have been weak in recent days, as have oil prices, both driven by demand that while increasing, isn't increasing by much. Also gasoline stocks are still relatively robust.''
