Police Chase Beverly Hills Robbery Suspects into Westlake Area

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Several suspects in an SUV who were wanted for armed robberies in Beverly Hills were chased by police today to the Westlake area of Los Angeles, where they got out of the vehicle and briefly barricaded themselves inside a house.

The SUV was wanted in connection with a series of robberies that occurred on Monday, according to Beverly Hills Police Lt. Max Subin.

Police broadcast a description of the wanted vehicle, and Los Angeles Police Department officers saw it and began chasing it, Subin said.

The driver of the SUV drove on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway at speeds reported to be in excess of 100 mph and exited in the area of Normandie Avenue at about 10 a.m. Three or four suspects got out and ran off a short time afterward, jumping a fence and appearing to enter a house.

A perimeter was established in the general area of Sixth and Bonnie Brae streets, the LAPD reported.

TV news footage appeared to show the suspects taken into custody without incident at around 11:15 a.m.
