LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 10th time in the last 11 days, increasing eight-tenths of a cent to $2.922.

The average price is 4.7 cents more than one week ago and 6.6 cents higher than one month ago, but $1.08 cheaper than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has decreased 69.1 cents since the start of the year.  The Orange County average price rose for the 19th consecutive day, increasing 1 cent to $2.891. It is 5.2 cents more than one week ago, 6.3 cents higher than one month ago, but $1.08 cheaper than one year ago. It has dropped 64.8 cents since the start of the year.

The increasing prices reflect “the fact that more people are driving than a month ago,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.  “As the state continues to gradually open the economy, we can expect to see gas prices continue to rise.”
