There Is Good COVID-19 News, But Will The Mainstream Media Tell Us?

With each day, there's more and more COVID-19 news thrown at us from the mainstream media, social media, and practically everyone we talk to. But it doesn't all have to be bad news. That's what Rich Lowry, editor of National Review and Politico Magazine, writes in his latest op-ed.

"We are on the other side of the curve. There are encouraging signs all over the country, and no early indications of a reopening debacle," he said. "The question now is whether the media and political system can absorb good news on the virus, which is often ignored or buried under misleading storylines."

We talk about it on the John and Ken Show all of the time... Most mainstream media and their journalists already have a one-sided view of the pandemic at hand, therefore the truth gets lost in the mix before the "news" even gets to the public. As Lowry writes, the "pandemic is indeed a once-in-a-generation story. So the media is naturally loath to shift gears and acknowledge that the coronavirus has begun to loosen its grip."

As states prepare to open the country back up, pay attention to the way the media tries to feed you their perspective of the coronavirus news. For example:

CNN tweeted last weekend, “Texas is seeing the highest number of new coronavirus cases and deaths just two weeks after it officially re-opened.”

A North Carolina TV station tweeted, “Breaking News: NC sees largest spike in coronavirus cases since pandemic began.”

"Usually when it is thought the public can’t handle the truth, it is a truth about some threat that could spark panic. In this case, the truth is information that might make people think it’s safe to go outside again," Lowry said.
