Authorities in Texas say at least six people were injured, including a 5-year-old girl, after men from two families began firing on one another late Sunday evening in what police believe is the culmination of an ongoing feud.

According to Harris County Sheriff's Office Capt. Joe Ambriz, one man armed with a handgun and another man armed with a shotgun exchanged gunfire on Sunday, and "ended up striking a number of individuals."

The six victims were taken to local hospitals after they suffered non-life threatening injuries. Those hurt included four females, including the five-year-old and the two men who were firin

Ambriz said a preliminary investigation of the shooting revealed that the gunfire likely stemmed from an ongoing "dispute between two neighbors."

"Unfortunately, when you resort to taking matters into your own hands and getting a weapon, it never turns out to be a good situation for anyone," Ambriz said.

No arrests have been made, however the investigation will be turned over the district attorney's office who will determine what charges, if any, will be filed.
