Security Guard Shot And Killed After Telling Customer To Wear A Mask

Calvin Munerlyn, 43

Three members of the same family are facing murder charges after a security guard at a Dollar Tree in Michigan was shot and killed for telling a woman she was required to wear a face mask while inside the store.

The incident happened on Friday (May 1) when Calvin Munerlyn, 43, informed the teenage daughter of 45-year-old Sharmel Lashe Teague that she needed to put on a face mask. Teague started screaming at Munerlyn while her daughter left the store. Teague continued to berate Munerlyn, who told her to leave the store and said she would not be served. Eventually, she left the store in a red GMC Envoy with her daughter.

About 20 minutes later, Teague's 44-year-old husband Larry and his adult son, Ramonyea Travon Bishop, 23, showed up the store and confronted Munerlyn. Larry accused Munerlyn of his disrespecting his wife, while Bishop pulled out a gun and shot him in the back of the head. He was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away.

On Monday (May 4), prosecutors charged Larry and Sharmel Teague as well as Bishop with first-degree premeditated murder. Bishop is also facing gun charges. Sharmel was taken into custody, but her husband and his son remain at large and are considered armed and dangerous.
