With this year's Kentucy Derby postponed due to the coronavirus, NBC will be airing a 'virtual' derby in its place next month.
A computer-simlutedRun for the Roses will pit some of the greatest Derby winners in history - like Secretariat, War Admiral, and 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify.
The simulation will air May 2nd on NBC, raising money for COVID-19 emergency relief.
Beginning on April 30, fans will be able to visi twww.KentuckyDerby.com to choose their favorite horse to win the virtual race and also join Churchill Downs in making a charitable donation to COVID-19 emergency relief efforts. All participants who select the winning horse will be entered to win the ultimate Kentucky Derby 146 VIP Experience.
The 'real' Kentucky Derby was postponed until Sept. 5th.
