SANTA ANA (CNS) - Police today were looking for two suspected gang members who shot and killed a man in an apparently unprovoked attack at El Salvador Park in Santa Ana.

Police responded at 6:51 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting at the park at 1825 W. Civic Center Drive, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:02 p.m., he said.

Police withheld the age and name of the victim because the coroner's office was still in the process of positively identifying him, Bertagna said.

A group of teenagers were hanging out near a baseball diamond at the park when the two suspects approached and did what police call a gang hit-up, in which the attackers ask victims what gang they are affiliated with, Bertagna said.

``There's no evidence at this time they are documented gang members,'' Bertagna said of the victims.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at 714-245-8390. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at 855-TIP-OCCS.
