False Report of Tsumani Approaching Huntington Beach Triggers Sirens, Alert

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CNS) - A report of a possible tsunami approaching Huntington Beach this morning that caused an alert to be issued and sirens to sound in the city turned out to be a false alarm and authorities were working to determine how the inaccurate report was sent out.

“Many of you may have heard the civil defense sirens sound...,” the Huntington Beach Fire Department tweeted about 4:20 a.m. “There is no current threat to our community.”

The department said it was “working to determine exactly how (and) why the sirens were activated.”
