'Jumanji' Sequel Opens With $60 Million To Lead Box Office

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - “Jumanji: The Next Level” opened atop the North American box office this weekend with $60.1 million, according to industry estimates released today.

Sony's sequel to its 2017 hit beat out “Frozen 2,” which grossed an estimated $19.1 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, Comscore reported.

“Knives Out” was third with $9.2 million, followed by “Richard Jewell” with $5 million and “Black Christmas” with $4.4 million.

Rounding out the 10 top-grossing films of the weekend were “Ford v. Ferrari” ($4.1 million), “Queen & Slim” ($3.6 million), “Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” ($3.3 million), “Dark Waters” ($2 million) and “21 Bridges” ($1.1 million).
