Murder-Suicide, Bomb Threat Found In Simi Valley Home

What some are calling a 'nightmarish' event occurred inside of a Simi Valley home on Thursday...

“We don’t know exactly what happened inside the home, but some sort of dispute obviously occurred and, ultimately, it turned into a murder-suicide,” Simi Valley Police Cmdr. Steve Shorts said.

According to authorities, a man shot and killed his own mother, as well as the family dog. He then wrote out a bomb threat on the wall before turning the gun, and killing himself.

It all happened in the 500 block of Fairfield Road in Simi Valley.

Their bodies were found when the man's uncle arrived home around 7 p.m. on Thursday. A SWAT team immediately showed up and evacuated everyone from the surrounding residences, yet later determined that there was no bomb inside.

The victims' names have not yet been released.

“The investigation will be based on validating the cause of death and trying to determine what dispute caused the incident to occur,” Shorts said.
