Why Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Marriage Is 'Less Strained' Now

Prince Harry Marries Ms. Meghan Markle - Windsor Castle

It's no secret that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first year of marriage had its ups and downs. The royal couple opened up about the intense scrutiny they faced both as newlyweds and first time parents in the recent ITV documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey. While they both admitted the past year has been "a struggle," things have apparently took a turn for the best now that their 6-month-old son Archie is sleeping through the night.

“It hasn’t been an easy year for the pair, with all the drama surrounding them, and having to look after a newborn,” a source revealed to Us Weekly. “After the birth, they were absolutely exhausted."

Like most new parents, Meghan and Harry struggled to find time for just themselves after welcoming their son. The exhaustion of first-time parenthood also took a toll on their marriage, according to the source. “There were times they’d bicker over the smallest things because they were so tired," the insider explained. "But now that Archie’s sleeping through the night, there’s less strain on the marriage. They can finally enjoy some ‘couple time’ in the evening and feel more rested.”

Meghan, Harry are set to take six weeks off from royal duties, as well, to enjoy some "much needed family time." They're expected to travel to the U.S. with Archie for his first Thanksgiving, too, and spend time with Meghan's mom Doria Ragland in the Duchess' native Los Angeles.
