Dozens Of States Join Antitrust Probe Into Facebook

Last month, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that she was leading an antitrust investigation into Facebook along with seven other states and Washington D.C. The probe is growing in size, and a new report from the Washington Post says that attorneys general from 40 other states have joined the probe into the social media giant.

The investigation is still in the early stages and officials believe that more states could join the investigation as it progresses.

The news comes a few weeks after a Reuters report that the U.S. Department of Justice is planning to launch a federal antitrust investigation into Facebook.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is aware of the looming investigations and is prepared to fight back against any attempts to regulate or break-up the company.

"Breaking up these companies, whether it's Facebook or Google or Amazon, is not actually going to solve the issues," he told employees during a town-hall meeting over the summer.
