HUNTINGTON PARK (CNS) - A girl was arrested today for allegedly bringing a gun and ammunition to her Huntington Park middle school.

A fellow-student tipped off staff, who notified police about the possible firearm at Henry T. Gage Middle School at 2880 Gage Ave., said Los Angeles School Police Department spokesman Sgt. Rudy Perez.

School police took the girl into custody and found bullets in her backpack. A handgun was found during a grid search of the campus, Perez said.

The girl, whose name and age were withheld, was expected to be booked on suspicion of possessing a firearm on a school campus, according to the sergeant, who praised a conscientious student for adhering to the mantra, ``If you see something, say something.''
