Bear Crashes Wedding And Photographer Captures It All

When taking photos at weddings, most brides and grooms and their photographers only need to worry about small things like lighting or if their hair looks okay, but Knoxville, Tennessee-based shutterbug Leah McMahan Edmondson had something much bigger to deal with - a bear. Leah, who owns Gypsy Soul Photography, was taking shots of Sarina Thompson and Cory Alan Brewer at their wedding venue in Gatlinburg when they got a very scary photobomber. A large black bear walked into their shot, and Leah was able to get a few more pics before suggesting they move to someplace safer.

Thankfully, none of the guests were in the area since the ceremony had just ended.

Leah described to PetaPixel exactly what happened, saying, "After the ceremony I did my normal ritual of family group pictures and bridal party pictures and then dismissed everyone to go on up the hill to the reception building to start eating. I had the bride and groom with me starting to shoot when we all noticed this bear. Being scared didn’t cross my mind, I just wanted ‘the shot.’ However, when I stood up, he made a ‘huffing’ sound and started toward me. At this point, I am beyond scared. He jacked my heart rate up to Jesus."

Thankfully, the bear went on it's way and nobody got hurt. The pictures will now be cherished forever and Leah will always remember the shoot, saying, "It was probably the most adventurous photo session I have done, even more than the one time I shot a family and their pet opossum."

If the Brewers can survive that kind of wedding, they will be able to get through anything.
