Close-Up Of Illuminated Cars On Street At Night

SANTA FE SPRINGS (CNS) - A man was fatally stabbed this afternoon in Santa Fe Springs, prompting the lockdown of a nearby school.

Officers responded about 3:10 p.m. to the area of Telegraph Road and Laurel Avenue to investigate a report of a male bleeding in the street, according to the Whittier Police Department, which patrols Santa Fe Springs.

``Officers found an unresponsive adult male suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds,'' according to a police statement. ``They performed first aid and CPR until relieved by the Santa Fe Springs Fire Department. The victim was transported to a local trauma center where he has since been pronounced deceased. His identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.''

Witnesses saw two suspects flee the scene before officers arrived, prompting the temporary lockdown of Graves Middle School at 13243 Los Nietos Road, police said.

The suspects were both described as Hispanic males. One was 6 feet tall with a goatee. He was possibly wearing a striped orange shirt and was last seen riding an older gray BMX-style dirt bike. The other was shorter than the first and had a light complexion and shaved head.

Anyone with information about the killing was urged to call Detective Kristian Rios at 562-409-1850.
