In a story that's every bit as touching as it is heartbreaking, a faithful dog has died -- minutes after its owner lost his battle with brain cancer.

Scotland resident Stuart Hutchinson, 25, was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011. Since then, he's undergone multiple operations, treatments and relapses. To help him get through it all, his wife, Danielle, bought him a French bulldog named Nero two years ago. She says Hutchinson and Nero were "like one."

A Facebook post by Hutchinson's mother tells the rest of the story: "It is with a broken heart that I let you all know that our much-loved hero Stuart Hutchison passed away peacefully today surrounded by his family and in the arms of his dearly loved wife Danielle. Sadly, at almost the same moment Stuart passed, his loyal and faithful four-legged friend Nero also died ... together forever."
