Snooki Slammed For Drinking Wine While 'Breastfeeding' Newborn Son

The Cut's How I Get It Done

Fans are furious with Snooki’s maternal multitasking skills.

On Sunday (July 28), the Jersey Shore star drew ire from followers when she posted a photo on Instagram of her drinking wine in one hand while feeding her newborn son, Angelo. “’What’s mom life like with 2 kids and a newborn?’ THIS. #MomJuice #ImAGoodMomISwear,” the reality star captioned the pic.

Unfortunately, mom-shamers were not impressed with Snooki’s balancing trick, and made this known in the comments. "You not suppose to drink alcohol if you breastfeeding your baby," one user commented, as another threatened: "I'm reporting you to CPS TODAY hope they take your kids and give them to someone more responsible."

Most of the 31-year-old's supporters defended her, like this fan who wrote, “Girl get it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Too many negative Nancy’s out there acting like they know what’s best."

Still, Snooki clapped back at the user who tried to school her on proper breastfeeding etiquette: “You’re not a mom. I allow myself to have a few glasses once a week to stay sane with 3 kids. I do what’s necessary to clean my milk for my baby. Let a mawma live and keep being 17.”

It's not clear whether Snooki, who also mothers 6-year-old Lorenzo and 4-year-old Giovanna, pumped the milk in question.

According to the Center for Disease Control, "Not drinking alcohol is the safest option for breastfeeding mothers. Generally, moderate alcohol consumption by a breastfeeding mother (up to 1 standard drink per day) is not known to be harmful to the infant, especially if the mother waits at least 2 hours after a single drink before nursing."

The report also adds anything above moderate levels through breast milk can be “damaging to an infant’s development, growth, and sleep patterns” and that “alcohol levels are usually highest in breast milk 30-60 minutes after an alcoholic beverage is consumed.”
