An Active Shooter Situation at the Gilroy Garlic Festival

On the third day and final day of the Gilroy Garlic Festival, a shooter opened fire.

The Los Angeles Times reports that people started hearing many shots and ran to hide.

25-year-old Taylor Pellegrini said this:

"People were yelling 'active shooter, active shooter,' and some people tripped and stayed on the ground so bullets didn't hit them. People were under tables and dropping their phones and whatever they had in their hands."

She also said that at first, she and her friends thought that the sounds were firecrackers.

She went on to say:

"I feel really scared. It makes me not want to go anywhere anymore."

Julissa Contreras is another witness who said:

"It was just rapid firing. I could see him shooting in just every direction. He wasn't aiming at anyone specifically. It was just left to right, right to left. ... He definitely was prepared for what he was doing."

President Donald Trump has already tweeted about the shooting:

"Law Enforcement is at the scene of shootings in Gilroy, California. Reports are that shooter has not yet been apprehended. Be careful and safe!"
