'The Handmaid's Tale' Was Renewed For Season 4!

Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale" FYC

Praise be! Hulu is taking "The Handmaid's Tale" fans back to Gilead for a new season of dystopian drama. Variety reported that the streaming service officially hit the green light for production to move forward with a fourth season. This comes at no surprise to fans and industry insiders, since Hulu has claimed that the Elizabeth Moss fronted program is the most watched show out of original and acquired series amongst subscribers.

For those unfamiliar, "The Handmaid's Tale" is a dramatic episodic television series based on a book of the same name by author Margaret Atwood. It tells the story of a fertile "handmaid" named June (Elizabeth Moss), forced to carry out pregnancies for bureaucratic elites in a society where natural births are on a steep decline. While trying to locate her stolen daughter, June must also navigate survival in the conservative nation of Gilead.

The show has been praised for highlighting controversial issues such as the effects of gender inequality, terrorism and extremism. Over it's three season run, "The Handmaid's Tale" has garnered forty-four Emmys nominations and eleven wins. Most recently Samira Wiley and Ann Dowd took home trophies from the Television Academy for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series, respectively.

Produced by MGM Television, Moss stars alongside Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O.T. Fagbenle, Max Minghella, and Samira Wiley.
