Port of Los Angeles Seeks Contractors for Planned Cyber Resilience Center

West Coast Ports Remain Closed Amid Labor Dispute

SAN PEDRO (CNS) - The Port of Los Angeles today formally started the search for contractors interested in designing, installing, operating and maintaining its planned Cyber Resilience Center, which will serve as a clearinghouse for cyber threat information-sharing across companies and stakeholders at the country's busiest trade gateway.

“Collaborative cyber-threat information sharing is critical to the safety and security of our Port,” said Chief Thomas Gazsi, the port's deputy executive director of Public Safety and Emergency Management. “This Cyber Resilience Center will allow us to more quickly identify and mitigate cyber incidents that pose a threat to the maritime supply chain.”

The idea for creation of the collaborative, first-of-its-kind center came out of maritime industry working group meeting recently hosted by port officials.

Five years ago, the Port established a Cyber Security Operations Center, which is operated by a cybersecurity team that monitors network traffic to prevent and detect cyber incidents under Port control.

The Cyber Resilience Center contract, once awarded, will have to be approved by the Board of Harbor Commissioners and the Los Angeles City Council.

Initial questions regarding the Request for Proposal are due Aug. 7, and a pre-proposal conference will be held on Aug. 14. Final proposals must be submitted by Sept. 4.

The full RFP can be downloaded at the Port's website, www.portoflosangeles.org/business. Questions regarding the RFP should be directed to Tanisha Herr by email at THerr@portla.org.
