Earlier this week, Bella Thorne took matters into her own hands by releasing her own nude photos after a hacker "threatened" to leak the images. Thorne claimed the blackmailer in question somehow gained unauthorized access to topless photos meant for only "one special person to see."
Thorne, who is currently promoting her new book The Life of a Wannabe Mogul: A Mental Disarray, said the violation made her "feel gross" and "watched" and that the man had supposedly taunted her with "multiple nude photos" of other stars. Refusing to be victimized, she beat the creep to the punch and shared her own nudes on Twitter with the caption: "F**k u and the power u think you have over me. I’m gonna write about this in my next book."
While many rooted for Thorne's bold act, Whoopi Goldberg criticized the former Disney star for taking nude photos of herself, especially in the digital age where so many celebs have become unwitting victims of similar hacking horror stories.
On Tuesday's episode of The View, Goldberg said: “If you’re famous, I don’t care how old you are. You don’t take nude pictures of yourself. Once you take that picture, it goes into the Cloud and it’s available to any hacker who wants it, and if you don’t know that in 2019 that this is an issue, I’m sorry. You don’t get to do that.”
When Thorne learned of Goldberg's remarks, the 21-year-old recorded an Instagram video to tearfully respond to the 63-year-old blaming her for the outcome.
“I’m not gonna lie … I feel pretty disgusting, Whoopi, knowing that everyone’s seen my s**t. And I just want to say that me watching this interview made me feel bad about myself," Thorne says through sobs in the clip. "And I hope you’re happy. I really do. I hope you’re so f**king happy....You’re so crazy for thinking such terrible things on such an awful situation.”
The Shake it Up alum, who was scheduled to appear on the show, says she'll be skipping her appearance because she doesn't want to be "beaten down by a bunch of older women." (See the clips below.)
