LOS ANGELES (CNS) - An exhibition showcasing ``Star Trek's'' impact on culture, art and technology will make its Los Angeles debut at the Skirball Cultural Center next spring, it was announced today.
``Star Trek'' Exploring New Worlds,'' which debuted at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle in 2016 as part of the franchise's 50th anniversary celebrations, will be on view at Skirball from April 30-Sept. 6 next year.
More than 100 rare artifacts, set pieces and props from the television series, spinoffs and films will be on view, including the navigation console from the original series; Kirk, Spock, Uhura and McCoy costumes; and the 6-foot U.S.S. Enterprise filming model from ``Star Trek: The Next Generation.''
``Both longtime fans and those new to the cultural phenomenon will learn how 50-plus years after a television program with modest ratings first aired, the stories and messages of `Star Trek' continue to resonate worldwide,'' according to the announcement.
Details of the Skirball presentation will be announced in early 2020.
