If you've walked around La Brea Tar Pits recently, you may have smelled some tar. If you think it's because you're standing near a giant pit filled with tar, you'd be right!
But there's something else going on.
CBS reports that tar and other natural gases are coming up through the ground and seeping through the sidewalks.
Residents don't seem to be very happy about this.
One of these residents, Andrea Ross-Greene, says, "I've lived here for about 20 years and this is the worst it's ever been".
Meanwhile, tourists seem somewhat excited about this, such as Rick Stahl from Seattle who says, "We're from Seattle and you don't see this oozing out of the streets. It's amazing".
When asked what he thought of the smell, Stahl responds with, "Mission accomplished. I can check that off my list as a tourist of LA".
