Man Wounded in Deputy-Involved Shooting in Inglewood Dies at Hospital

INGLEWOOD (CNS) - A man wounded in a deputy-involved shooting in Inglewood later died at a hospital, authorities said today.

Deputies responded about 10:30 p.m. Thursday to the 3700 block of Imperial Highway, between Doty and Yukon avenues, and tried to talk with a man, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Shortly after contacting the suspect, a deputy involved shooting occurred, the LASD said.

The suspect was struck multiple times in the upper body and taken to a hospital where he later died, the sheriff's department said.

A handgun was recovered at the scene.

NBC4 reported a suspect got into a sheriff's patrol vehicle and shots were fired. Video showed bullet holes in the vehicle's windshield.

The name and age of the victim was not released.

No deputies were injured.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives investigated the shooting.
