Barricaded Suspect in Shooting In Mar Vista Dies Of Self-Inflicted Gunshot

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A suspect from a shooting assault earlier Sunday who barricaded himself inside a residence in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles was found dead inside the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Los Angeles police said.

The suspect claimed he had a hostage and a bomb, but those threats turned out to be false.

SWAT made entry into the residence and discovered the man dead inside, police said.

The man's name was withheld pending notification of kin.

The victim shot by the suspect was hospitalized in stable condition, LAPD Officer Mike Lopez said.

The shooting happened about 5 a.m. on Flower Court, west of Lincoln Boulevard, Lopez said.

A subsequent investigation led police to the area of Inglewood and West Washington boulevards, where the suspect had barricaded himself inside a residence.
