LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A rise of three-tenths of a cent today extended the streak of increases in the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County to 38 consecutive days.
The average price has risen 71.5 cents during the streak to $4.074, its highest amount since July 31, 2015, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 12.8 cents more than one week ago, 69.9 cents higher than one month ago and 46.9 cents greater than one year ago.
The rising prices are the result of a series of refinery issues that have reduced supply, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
A 29-day streak of increases to the Orange County average price ended Wednesday with a decrease of two-tenths to $4.038. It had risen 71.8 cents during the streak to its highest amount since Aug. 1, 2015.
The Orange County average price is 12.1 cents more than one week ago, 71.6 cents higher than one month ago and 46.7 cents greater than one year ago.
