El Chapo's Wife Announces Launch of Fashion Brand in Mexican Mob Boss' Name

When one door closes another door opens.

Convicted Mexican mob boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman is likely to spend the rest of his life in a max-security prison. For his wife, 29-year-old Emma Coronel Aispuro, this is hard news as the two have 7-year-old twins together.

However, Coronel Aispuro is determined to turn her husband's name into a positive profit as she is set to launch a fashion line bearing the drug lord's name.

El Chapo, 61, handed over the rights to his name and signature to a new company, El Chapo Guzman: JGL LLC, Fox News reports.

"This company was formed here in New York. Emma is the president of this LLC," Chapo's attorney, Mariel Colon said. She also stated El Chapo would not make a dime from the company as his name is not listed on the LLC.

The design process for the fashion line has already begun and Colon stated the first few items will be ready for purchase by this summer.

Coronel Aispuro announced the launch of the clothing brand on her Instagram. “I have a project for a line of clothing... It is my goal to promote my style and Joaquin’s.”

The line will reportedly include caps, clothing and jackets featuring her husband's signature as part of the brand's logo.

“This project is an idea Joaquin and I have had for a long time. Before he was in the USA we talked a lot about this topic," Coronel Aispuro told the New York Daily News. "Really, it’s both of our ideas.”

Chapo was convicted in February on drug trafficking, money laundering and firearms possession charges.
