50-Person Fight Breaks out at Horse Racetrack in England

A mass brawl broke out Saturday at Haydock Park Racecourse in Merseyside, England, prompting officials from the Racecourse Association to make a statement denouncing those responsible.

"The RCA strongly condemns the appalling behaviour of a small group of racegoers whose actions have taken the shine off a fantastic Saturday of racing. Racecourse stewards and security teams are trained to detect and close down crowd disturbances in the rare incidents when they arise, as was the case Haydock Park. Police are present at race meetings across the country where they deem it necessary in consultation with each racecourse," the statement said.

One person was arrested and a police investigation is ongoing into the fight that occurred during the final of eight races that day.

Fifty people reportedly took part in the brawl and some women and children got caught in the violence.

Security was reportedly on high alert at the event after previous events were disturbed by fighting last year however, the security proved to be insufficient.

Maybe setting up a boxing ring for the spectators at the next event will at least help contain the testosterone.
