The death toll from the freezing cold temperatures hitting the Midwest is at least nine. The latest death happened in Iowa, where a student at the University of Iowa died after being found behind a campus building early Wednesday morning. Another person died in Iowa in a weather-related car crash. Three people were killed in Illinois. Deaths were also recorded in Indiana, Wisconsin and Nebraska. Temperatures across the Midwest are well below zero because of a polar vortex pulling freezing air into the area.
