LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the Pasadena Public Health Department today identified more locations for possible measles exposure.

The person with a confirmed case of measles announced Thursday also visited Santa Monica and Pasadena while infectious between Dec. 26-29, in addition to Malibu as previously announced.

The person visited the Santa Monica Pier and the Blue Plate Taco restaurant at 1515 Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica from 1:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Dec. 26.

The person also visited the Ralphs market at 3601 E. Foothill Blvd. and Nordstrom Rack Hastings Village at 3363 E. Foothill Blvd., in Pasadena, 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Dec. 28.

As previously announced, the person visited the Paradise Cove Beach Cafe in Malibu from 12:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Dec. 29.

No current risk related to measles exists at these venues because the period of possible exposure ended more than a week ago. In addition, because measles is spread from person-to-person by the respiratory route, there is no risk present related to food that may have been consumed at these locations.

However, people who were present at these locations during the indicated times, especially those with weakened immune systems or persons who may not have been immunized against measles, may be at risk of developing measles and should watch for symptoms of the illness.

Common symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a rash that usually appears 10 to 12 days after the exposure.

Individuals should contact their health care provider if they develop measles symptoms.

Measles immunizations are available at your health care provider, local pharmacy or health clinic. Public Health clinics offer no or low-cost immunizations for individuals who are uninsured or underinsured. Nearby public health clinics can be found by calling 2-1-1 or online at http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/chs/phcenters.htm.
