Jimmy Kimmel is Putting Federal Employees to Work

As the government shutdown enters well into double digit days and no end in sight, one person is taking it upon himself to lend a hand to those impacted.

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel announced that his show would employ one furloughed federal employees for each episode until the shutdown ends.

In his opening monologue, Kimmel explained why he wanted to do this:

"Nearly 800,000 federal employees are working without pay and that is Donald Trump doing what Donald Trump does best; not paying the people who work for him. That is where he shines...It's unfortunate that these people, these workers, who have nothing to do with this ridiculous wall aren't getting paychecks, especially right after the holidays. So I wanted to do our part to pitch in."

The first person up for the job is federal prison guard John Kostelnik who told Kimmel that he was one of 1,000 guards who are still working at the Federal Correctional Complex in Victorville, California without pay.
