Burglar Runs Himself Over After Police Chase

(Isaiah John Gellatly: Clackamas County Sheriff's Office)

An Oregon man fell victim to his own stunts after running himself over with his own car following a police pursuit.

Isaiah John Gellatly, 31, led police on a high-speed chase Monday after authorities responded to a call about a theft in progress and spotted Gellatly sitting inside a parked 1998 Honda Accord. Officers shined a light inside the car and Gellatly peeled away.

"He repeatedly blew through stop signs and crossed over into the opposing lane of traffic during the high-speed pursuit," according to the police statement.

Gellatly stopped after crashing into a tree and building wall, then he jumped in front of his still moving vehicle....running himself over.

The lower third of Gellatly's leg was pinned under the wheel of the Honda, which police said contained numerous items believed to be stolen, including a tennis racket, a ping-pong paddle, designer sunglasses and a Schwinn scooter. His leg was subsequently broken.

Gellatly was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude police, reckless driving, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and theft.
