SANTA ANA (CNS) - A woman was shot and killed and a man was wounded in what might have been a single attack this morning in Santa Ana, police said.
Police responded about 1:40 a.m. to the area of First Street and Pacific Avenue after a man made a 911 call to report that his friend had been shot and wounded, according to Santa Ana police. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Shortly after the 911 call, another man dropped off a badly wounded woman at a local hospital. The woman was shot in her upper chest and was pronounced dead about 2 a.m. The woman's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The man who dropped the woman off at the hospital immediately fled the scene and police have no description of the person who left the woman at the hospital. The condition of the wounded man was unknown.
Santa Ana police were investigating the homicide and the wounding of the man.
