Five Found Dead Inside Vehicles After Trying To Escape Camp Fire

The Butte County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Friday morning that five people were found dead inside of their cars after trying to escape the 'Camp Fire'. The bodies were found in their burned cars in the area of Edgewood Lane, near Pentz Road in Butte county.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the victims were not identifiable at the scene, and autopsies will have to be conducted.

Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said that he can not release the number of reports his office has received so far, but he did confirm that a team has been formed to respond to the fatalities of the Camp Fire.

When reporters asked if he believed there will be more reported fatalities, the sheriff said, "I do."

The Camp Fire, as well as the two additional fires burning north of Los Angeles, have forced over 157,000 people to evacuate their homes, according to director of the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, Mark Ghilarducci.
