OC Sheriff's Deputies Seek Public's Help Arresting Bank Robber

LAKE FOREST (CNS) - Orange County sheriff's investigators asked for the public's help today in apprehending a suspect who robbed a bank branch in a Lake Forest supermarket.

The stickup happened about 7 p.m. Monday at a Wells Fargo branch in a Stater Bros. store at 22351 El Toro Road.

The bandit -- who used a cane and had a black sling on his left arm -- demanded money from the tellers and threatened them if they didn't give him cash, then fled with a “large sum of money inside of a cardboard box,” according to a sheriff's statement.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, 6 feet tall and weighing about 220 pounds, with brown hair. He was wearing a hat, gloves and sunglasses.

Anyone with information about his identity or whereabouts was asked to call sheriff's dispatchers at (949) 770-6011. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at (855) TIP-OCCS.
