AZ GOP Senate Candidate Accused John McCain of Distracting from Campaign

As the nation mourns the loss of Senator John McCain, one politician is trying to find the foot she shoved in her mouth the day he died.

Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kelli Ward wrote a comment on social media Saturday suggesting that a statement issued by Sen. John McCain’s family was intended to hurt her in her bid to win a US Senate seat.

The day before his death, Senator McCain’s family released a public statement saying they had decided to end the his medical treatment for brain cancer which had been going on since the beginning of the year.

"I think they wanted to have a particular narrative that they hope is negative to me," Ward wrote in a now-deleted remark on Facebook.

In a follow-up comment, Ward wrote she had on multiple occasions encouraged prayers for a "suffering" McCain and his family.
