A Baltimore police officer has resigned after video of him repeatedly punching a man in the face went viral.
The video starts with the victim Dashawn McGrier exchanging some choice words with the unidentified officer before he begins punching McGrier.
The two fall to the ground after the throws, with the officer on top and onlookers surrounding the scene.
ABC7 reports there is now an ongoing investigation reviewing the officer's body camera footage.
Interim police commissioner Gary Tuggle says he's deeply disturbed by the video and has accepted the officer's resignation a day after the officer was suspended.
"The officer involved in yesterday's incident is no longer with the BPD," the department said in a statement. "Interim Commissioner Gary Tuggle has accepted his resignation. The second officer remains on administrative duties. This remains an active criminal investigation."
