14-Year-Old is Running for Governor...Seriously

Ethan Sonneborn is a passionate kid in Vermont who wants to hold public office and make a difference. Instead of waiting until he's older and just resigning himself to his Playstation XVIIII, he's decided to run for Governor. Yes, the highest executive office in the state. And he can because Vermont has no official age limit for candidates. Ethan is now the youngest candidate ever to run for Governor.

Ethan's main platform? Gun Control. He says he wants to be a voice for younger people. He does admit, though, that hunting is a big part of people's lives in Vermont.

"It's a culture that I respect," he said. "But if it's making the decision between letting my friends have a good time at a firing range and them possibly being involved in a school shooting, I'm choosing legislation to protect them from that school shooting."

He faces two other candidates. Ethan says his biggest challenges running for office at 14 are keeping up with his school schedule and getting himself to campaign events...you know., since he can't drive. He says he has to ask for rides everywhere.

He says he inspirations are John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr., different guys with the same vision of good for the world.
