The White House banned a CNN reporter from a Rose Garden event on Wednesday, after asking President Trump questions deemed "inappropriate".
Reporter Kaitlan Collins had asked questions about Vladimir Putin and the tapes recorded by then Trump lawyer Michael Cohen while serving as "pool reporter" at a photo op session.
Afterwards, White House offcials including press secretary Sarah Sanders told Collins her questions weren't appropriate and subsequently banned her from a later press event.
CNN called the banning "retaliatory" and "not indicative of an open and free press."
Even Trump favored network Fox News stood up for Collins, saying it stands in "strong solidarity for CNN".
