A High School Student Suspended Over Trump Shirt Awarded $25K

(Sacramento Bee) An Oregon high school student is suing his school, saying it violated his First Amendment rights when it suspended him for wearing a Trump T-shirt. The student, 18-year-old Addison Barnes, told FOX 12 that he was asked to cover up a T-shirt he was wearing that said “Donald J. Trump Construction Co.” on it, or leave school. The shirt also included a Trump quote: “The wall just got 10 feet taller.” According to KGW, Barnes wore the shirt to his People and Politics class at Liberty High School in Hillsboro in January, and he told the TV outlet he knew they’d be discussing immigration in class that day. #oregon #buildthewall #tshirt #trump #presidenttrump #freespeech #westcoast #highschool #conservative #republican #clinton #democrat #us #america #thewall #usborder #maga #trumptrain #news #media #borderwall #usborder #trumpshirt #politics #cnn #infowars #foxnews #student #school #makeamericagreat #fakenews

An Oregon high school student who was sent home because of his Donald Trump shirt just got an apology...and a $25,000 check.

The issue started when 18-year-old Addison Barnes arrived at school in a T-shirt that read "Donald J. Trump Border Wall Construction Co".

A few people in his class were offended and voiced their distaste over the clothing and when Barnes was asked to change he refused.

He later sued the school, eventually reaching a settlement of $25,000 and a letter of apology from the principal.

Barnes says he sued to "stand up for myself and other students" who hold "right-of-center" views.
