Actor Anthony Anderson Accused Of Assaulting A Woman, Denies Allegation

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Emmy-nominated actor Anthony Anderson is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a woman over a year ago.

Police confirmed Anderson, who stars in the ABC sit-com “black-ish,” is a suspect in a criminal complaint filed recently, according to Officer Drake Madison with the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

The celebrity news site The Blast reported the alleged assault involves a woman who catered an event thrown by the actor, but Anderson strongly denied the accusation.

Sources told The Blast the woman met with Anderson after the event to discuss additional business opportunities when the alleged assault occurred.

“It's unfortunate that anyone can file a police report, whether it is true or false," a representative for Anderson told Variety. “The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim"

In 2004, Anderson and an assistant director for the movie “Hustle & Flow” were accused by an extra of raping her in a trailer on the set in Memphis. The case was dropped after investigators determined the woman's testimony did not warrant filing charges.

Anderson was recently nominated for his fourth Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy for his role in “black-ish.”
