Transient Arrested For Alleged Sexual Assaults of Five Homeless Women

POMONA (CNS) - A 39-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting five transient women was arrested today in Pomona, police said. David Tymel Cummings, himself a transient, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of rape by force or fear and three counts of sexual assault and battery.

``The first incident came to light in August 2017 when officers took a report in which a woman stated she had been sexually assaulted,'' according to a police statement.

``Within the next few months, four other women came forward with similar statements and suspect descriptions. All five women were believed to have visited the Pomona Armory or the nearby area where the incidents occurred.''

Detectives and officers were able to locate and arrest Cummings after a department crime analyst noticed all five reports included similar suspect descriptions, police said. Cummings was being held in lieu of $280,070 bail, according to sheriff's inmate records.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect was urged to call Pomona police at (909) 620-2085. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
