Father Fatally Shot In Front Of Daughters While Camping In California

A 35-year-old father was shot and killed inside his tent while camping with his two young daughters in Malibu Creek State Park in California. The girls, ages two and four, were unharmed but police said they were in the tent at the time of the shooting.

“The theory we are working with is he was shot inside the tent,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Rodney Moore said. “The children were inside the tent, too."

Police said Tristan Beaudette was shot just before 5 a.m. and died at the scene. Police have not discovered a motive for the shooting and they continue to investigate the campsite for leads. The campground, which has over 60 separate sites, will be closed until at least Thursday, according to Park Superintendent Tony Hoffman

“The campground will be closed through Thursday, June 28. We will evaluate daily whether we can re-open sooner or if the closure has to continue past June 28.”

According to Fox News, there is a history of shootings in the area, but police do not believe they are related to the recent murder.

Beaudette's family created a GoFundMe page to help support Tristan's wife, Erica, and her two daughters. They said that Tristan was "an amazing father, husband, son, and brother" who "was out doing something he adored in life, being in the outdoors with his two young girls" when he was senselessly murdered.

Tristan, you were such an amazing father, husband, son, and brother. You were admired by so many for your devotion to your wife and two daughters. We are all so fortunate to have known you for your short time on Earth. You were taken from us far too early, doing something you loved with the girls you adored. You will be so dearly missed. May you rest in peace.
