Video footage of the moment when a car thief leading police on a high-speed chase through the streets in Brazil, got into a crash sending their passenger flipping through the air, has been released.
CCTV cameras in the Brazilian city of Ponta Grossa caught the moment the stolen car loses control at high speed, rolling several times on its side down the middle of a residential street, ejecting the man sitting in the passenger seat.
The man sails through the vehicle's open window, crashing through trees, flipping several times, as he flies up in the air, before he lands on the roof of a house, ultimately falling to the ground on the other side of a fence.
At least two people were in the car, officials say.
The Daily Mail reports that the passenger, who has not been named, is currently under observation at a local hospital after suffering multiple fractures and severe internal injuries.
A Parana military police spokesperson told FocusOn News: “Officers were routinely patrolling the area when their suspicions were raised by irregular license plates from Sao Paulo that didn’t match the vehicle’s make and registered city.
“The agents flagged down the car, but it failed to stop and drove off at high speed. Officers gave chase and caught up with the suspects in a residential road after they crashed the car.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was arrested for receiving stolen goods, dangerous driving, and disobedience.
