Hormel Foods Recalls More Than 228,000 Pounds of Spam

Two things that definitely don't mix: Spam and metal.

Four people have recently found that out the hard way.

After four different complaints from customers finding metal objects inside of their canned Spam, Hormel Foods Corporation has decided to recall any and all products that may be contaminated.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, this includes more than 228,000 pounds of Spam and other Hormel canned foods.

The company is encouraging people to immediately throw away or return any of the following products recalled:

  • 12-ounce metal cans containing "SPAM Classic" with a "Best By" date of February 2021
  • 12-ounce metal cans of "Hormel Foods Black-Label Luncheon Loaf" with a "Best By" date of February 2021

In a statement, Hormel said it was recalling the products "out of an abundance of caution."

The recalled products have establishment number "EST. 199N" located on the bottom of the can, and were shipped throughout the United States and Guam.
