BART Considers Sealing Off Civic Center Hallway Notorious For Drug Use

A hallway at BART's Civic Center Station may be sealed off to prevent rampant drug use there.  "KRON 4" says BART and MUNI officials met with San Francisco Mayor Mark Farrell last week after a YouTube video surfaced showing people actively smoking and shooting up drugs in the hallway.

The hallway has two access points to both BART and MUNI and transit officials say the closure would not impact riders because one access point would remain open.  The next step will be to contact the state fire marshal to determine if the closure would create a danger to public safety.

Opponents of the closure say sealing off the Civic Center hallway will just move drug users to other stations.
