North and South Korea Begin to Dismantle Speakers Along Border Line

According to reports from South Korea’s defense ministry, both North and South Korea began dismantling loudspeakers today that blared propaganda across the border.

The moves appear to be the first steps toward reconciliation after last weeks meeting between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and the North’s Kim Jong Un.

The speakers in the South were used to broadcast a mixture of news, Korean pop songs and criticism of the northern regime, while the North used theirs to criticize the southern government and praise its own socialist system.
