Fresno State Prof Calls Barbara Bush 'Amazing Racist' In Deleted Tweet

Randa Jarrar, the Fresno State English professor who made headlines yesterday after tweeting that the late Barbara Bush was an 'amazing racist' has worked as an author writing about her personal life and Arab-American heritage.

In a now deleted tweet sent shortly after it was announced the former First Lady had passed away, Jarrar wrote on Twitter:

"Barbara Bush was a generous and smart and amazing racist who, along with her husband, raised a war criminal. F*** outta here with your nice words."

Jarrar's tweet generated more than 2,000 replies, with many of those upset with the author and tagging University President Joseph Castro in their comments on her tweet.

Jarrar's Wiki page states the professor was born in 1978 to an Egyptian-Greek mother and Palestian father, growing up in Kuwait and Egypt, returning to the U.S. with her family in 1991 following the Persian Gulf War.

Fresno State says Jarrar has been on leave this semester from the University where she teaches creative writing courses. She is currently scheduled to appear at the Old Administration Building at Fresno State tonight according to the event's website
